Breeding informatics toolbox

A modern breeding program with advanced phenotyping and genotyping technologies has the potential to create vast amounts of data. Integrated data and bioinformatics tools are needed to manage and convert this data into valuable information in a time-sensitive manner.

The Bioinformatics, Biometrics and Data Management toolbox contains software tools to ensure breeding data is:

  • Curated – Appropriate quality control is in place and required metadata is recorded to make data usable to drive breeding decisions
  • Stored in appropriate databases – Data needed for breeding decisions is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.
  • Analyzed using best practices – Appropriate experimental designs and models are being used to ensure the accuracy of information being utilized to make breeding decisions.
