An EiB Story of Excellence, from Integrated Breeding Programme (IBP), LeafNode and Boyce Thompson Institute BrAPPs are standalone independent tools or widgets which can run on its own or can be easily integrated with a larger system.
The only condition is that each BrAPP is completely and exclusively BrAPI driven and can be used with any BrAPI-compliant system. The goal of this paradigm is to encourage functionality sharing within the BrAPI community. We were able to achieve a fully functional BrAPP and make it available to the community. This application enables users to take a field layout and plot it against a satellite image of the actual terrain where it would be planted, adjusting things like plot sizes, geometry and orientation, and store geo coordinates at the plot level once saved. This tool has been incorporated in both Breedbase and the BMS and developed only once. Additionally, this initiative in turn became the rationale to make significant investments in BMS BrAPI 2.0 support and in extending our schema to store georeference information.
